Hutch looked over his shoulder and smiled.<\/p>\n
The recovery process, after Gunther\u2019s assassination attempt, had been going so well, he had picked up some brochures. Starsky\u2019s doctors and therapists had been enthusiastic about their getting out of town for a few days.<\/p>\n
\u201cSure,\u201d they all said. \u201cGo. Do a little hiking, maybe fishing. See some new country.\u201d They had been in agreement though: \u201cDon\u2019t over do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a little north of Duluth, Starsk,\u201d Hutch said, his smile growing. \u201cI\u2019d love to take you there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah?\u201d Starsky\u2019s genuine interest was nearly palpable.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah,\u201d Hutch repeated. \u201cIt\u2019s part of the area that gives Minnesota its nickname, Land of Ten Thousand Lakes. The number\u2019s no exaggeration.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSays here, though,\u201d Starsky said, reading the brochure, \u201cwe\u2019d need to take insect repellant.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s no exaggeration either,\u201d Hutch admitted.<\/p>\n
\u201cMosquitoes?\u201d Starsky asked, plaintively. \u201cYou know I don\u2019t like mosquitoes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t worry, we\u2019ll get a permit,\u201d Hutch replied immediately, straight-faced. \u201cYou can shoot them on sight. There\u2019s no season, and no bag limit.\u201d<\/p>\n
