Starsky POV
I have a secret, don’t tell.
I fear the pointed finger
The flashing eyes, the yell
That I incite won’t linger.
My days of endless summer
Will be gone.
I can’t tell him how I feel,
How I need him to want me.
It’s our unspoken deal
To live in shadowy reality.
My days of endless summer
Will be gone.

‘Cause in the endless summer of my mind
He stands before me naked and golden.
His crown of gold absorbs the sun’s light.
It reflects in those sky filled, dazzling eyes.
It settles on my soul with eternal comfort.
I can’t touch, I can’t reach, I can only bask
Forever in that endless deep love
He gives me everyday with every word
A bright smile, a friendly pat, a look, a joke
Or even an angry rant that does me good.
He is my endless summer
I’ll never let him go.

Concentrate on the overheated car
Please, don’t make me choose.
‘Cause I would choose my summer star.
‘Cause I could never stand to lose.
The endless summer
By my side.
The opening lines, whee. Thanks for this lovely poem.
Thanks! I love this scene. Hutch is so steamy and Starsky so dramatic.
great description of hutch
Ahhhh. Hutch under the summer sun.
Beautiful, babe.
Thank you, babe.
He is golden, isn’t he?
One of my favorite descriptions of him. Yum.
Oh, very nice, mvernet! A beautiful simmering many-layered description of that heated scene. Well done.
Thank you! Overheated cars say summer to me. I owned a 1972 Torino once upon a time and I love this scene. Such memories.
Well done. Great view of Hutch. Thanks!
Hutch as “endless summer”. Very nice. An excellent Summer Solstice addition!
Thank you! I’ve had Starsky call Hutch his endless summer before in one of my fics, but never in a poem. Thanks, I thought it was appropriate also.
Sighs… I can’t pick a place to start.
This is just all around wonderful and yummy!
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing vision of them!
S&H are so sexy in this scene. Sweaty yum buckets both of them. Thanks!
Ah, Mvernet, you have the ability to zero in on a habit of Hutch’s that I adore and mention often when I write. I enjoyed this poem and how Starsky fears the pointed finger. I especially loved how you described Hutch’s hair. Your poetry is always so full of imagery and emotion. The unrequited love and lust in your peom is very moving and provocative.
Awwww. Thanks, babe. I’m glad you liked it. Hutch’s hair is a poem all by itself.
I rarely read poetry, fannish or otherwise, but your opening lines here caught me and I’m glad for having read the whole poem (quite a few times) – it expands that slightly chaotic short scene to something so much more. A perfect piece for this calendar!
Just lovely, Mvernet!
So perfect!
What a lovely endless summer poem. Need to read it again…., Thank you! ?
Very pretty…Endless Summer fits so well.
