June 18th- “I thought you were dead.” by mvernet

Hutch POV

Am I dead?
Does it hurt like hell when you die?
Are there razor blades piercing your skin?
Rasping breaths in your throat?
Thundering rapid heartbeats?
Spots in front of your eyes?
Guess I’m alive then.

Is this a dream?
Has my ESP quotient upped the ante?
Visions clouding my senses?
Premonitions and flashes of images?
Becoming my reality?
Are the anxious phantoms closing in, real?
Guess I don’t know.

Have I lost my mind?
Why can’t I move?
Why are the sounds around me muffled?
Why can’t I hear what the phantoms say?
Is this buzzing formless world my new reality?
Will I be tormented or laid to waste?
Guess I’m fading away.

Am I lost?
Why are the phantoms fleeing?
Why is my pain ebbing away?
Why can I breathe, deep and easy?
I feel comforted, safe. Who is there?
Who is guiding me back, grounding my mind?
Guess I’ve been found.

Never thought of this scene from Hutch’s POV before, mvernet. Beautifully articulated from someone who’d definitely be ‘lost’ for a while.

    MMMMMMMM, mvernet!

Poor Hutch.lost and drifting in grayness, until THAT TOUCH!
    Wonderfully written!
    Thank you so very much!

Great way of expressing Hutch’s pain and confusion at this moment.

    • mvernet says:

Thank you! I love how he tries to comfort Starsky (with a pat on the head) right after this.

  6. Mortmere says:

Oh, mvernet – you’re spoiling us with all the goodies you’ve written for this calendar! And again interestingly, intensely focusing (or momentarily de-focusing) on a familiar scene.
