There’s a heat wave in Bay City
Blue skies shimmer overhead
The tarmac melts the wheels
Of my Torino painted red
There’s a heat wave in Bay City
And the temp is heading up
All the way to ninety
And my partner blows his top
There’s a heat wave in Bay City
Wish we could find a way
To freeze the perps and make ‘em stop
Just for one care free day
There’s a heat wave in Bay City
But our shift is done at last
With windows down, we cruise around
And find a place to park
There’s a heat wave in Bay City
As we walk down to the sea
Breezes cool frazzled nerves
Hutch turns and smiles at me
There’s a heat wave in Bay City
But we’ll end the day, you’ll see,
With friendship, banter, laughter
‘Cos that’s what makes us Me and Thee
Lovely, Lapfordlass. You are so talented and generous to us!
I’m blushing! Thank you! 🙂
“partner blows his top”… Hutch always does when it gets hot, doesn’t he?!
That is very sweet, thank you for that!
So glad you liked it!
Yes, the idea was sparked by the famous scene of Hutch losing it when Starsky’s car breaks down in the heat! 🙂
Aw, I love this.
Glad you love it! 🙂
Really well done, Lapfordlass. Perfect word pictures of our boys in the heat. Thank you for this additional gift and we’re sure glad you joined us!
Thank you! Even more blushing going on now!
I’m glad I’ve joined too as it’s opened up a world of creativity for me! 🙂
Wonderful.
Thank you, MaryEllen 🙂
So cute!
Thanks 🙂
Sweet!!! Thank you for this, Lapfordlass! KUDOS
Thank you! 🙂
Ahh, that was nice! You have a way with words. Thanks!
Thanks! 🙂
Aww, I love poetry and anything that mentions “me and thee.”
I especially loved this part:
Breezes cool frazzled nerves
Hutch turns and smiles at me
Had to get a me and thee in there if I could! Thanks! 🙂
I love that scene at the beginning of Death in a Different Place, and this poem is such a nice reference to it! A heatwave makes a hard day harder, but there’s always an end in sight, and I think you captured Starsky’s optimism well here.
I love that scene too! Thank you for your kind comments 🙂
Aw, sweet! I can feel the cool breezes now 🙂 Thanks so much!
You’re welcome 🙂
Loved the cadence/rhythm AND the sentiments in this poem. Well done, and thanks for the smile!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Lovely. Thank you.
You’re welcome! 🙂
Very sweet. I could easily see them doing this.
