If I could paint a picture, at the center there’d be two
Surrounded by the sights and sounds of that Bay City view.
I’d paint a picture filled with greens: soft grass and leaves on trees,
Plants that fill up Venice Place grown with care, providing peace.
I’d daub the canvas with deep blue: the indigo of Starsky’s eyes –
Flashing with anger; filled with joy or shining with love that never dies.
My brush would find those golden gleams: sparkling gold of Hutch’s hair;
Bestowing, with his twinkling smile, drops of light everywhere.
A stroke of candy apple red would make a wheeled courageous steed
Carrying two brave modern knights towards those places where there’s need.
With purple, I would paint the coat that clothes a friend called Huggy Bear.
I’d catch his speech in silver tones that convey his love for that special pair.
I’d dip my brush in choc’late brown to paint teddy bear soft eyes:
Dobey’s love for his adopted sons conveyed in liquid pools, so wise.
Over the canvas, I’d weave a spell, combining colors as they wend
That makes a scene from my mind’s eye of love and friendship without end.
But I cannot paint so I must use the colors of words to paint this scene
To try to describe the Bay City boys and everything they’ve come to mean.
